Individualized Learning... Problem Solving… Strategic Thinking… Increase in Empathy

Passionate… Creative… Curious Thinkers!

Project-based learning is a student-centered curriculum that involves a dynamic classroom approach in which students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems.

"PBL" is Project Based Learning, which is our mode to integrate and correlate all subjects through a theme chosen by the students.  Lessons... Activities... Field Trips are all intertwined into the Semester long Project that focuses on real life events and always brings it back to our local community, Key Biscayne.  At the end of each semester, all students will present their project to the community.

Using a parent-guided survey, our team correlates all subject areas through the lens of the project theme. Foundation is taught while recognizing each child's learning style and adapting with hands on experiences, so they fully understand the foundation.

With individualized guidance, as well as a group, the Child-Led Project formulates each semester. The children guide the topics (all while hitting the traditional education standards) and having fun learning.

The children embark on projects that challenge them to ask more questions, test theories, experience failure, refine processes, and collaborate with their peers. The Project is chosen by the children. Answered by the Children. Presented by the Children to our community at the end of the semester.

INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING

Our program is tailored to each child.  We meet with the family to discuss areas of concern as well as their strengths to build a unique learning experience for each child.  We don’t believe every child fits in a box, so we create what works for them.  We assess the way they learn best, weather it be multiple modalities such as kinesthetic, auditory, visual and/or tactile.

WHOLE CHILD APPROACH

We strongly believe in developing the child as a WHOLE.  Academics is just one piece of the whole.  Our role as educators is to provide society with responsible, nurturing, educated, well-rounded human beings.  Therefore we focus on other aspects of the child such as their emotional, behavior and social well-being.  We provide our students with opportunities to enhance their own community by doing beach clean ups, etc.  We teach them empathy thorough understanding and accepting the differences between each other.  They also learn the art of giving to those less fortunate such as holding food drives to take to shelters around their community.

ORTON-GILLINGHAM

It is a multi- sensory program that will enable students, bydirect instruction, to review, learn new concepts, practice, and apply what they are learning. Orton-Gillingham is a methodology that has been utilized for over 50 years. Based onearly research in dyslexia by Dr. Samuel T. Orton and AnnaGillingham, it was concluded that children who experience difficulty with reading and spelling need a solid phonics approach that is multi-sensory, systematic, structured, sequential, cumulative, and success-oriented.

SMALL GROUPS

Our small group teaching sessions typically have 3-5 students in each group with one teacher leading the instruction. There are many benefits to having small group instruction such as: increasingstudent motivation, teamwork and retention of knowledge and skills. The main goal of small group instruction is for the teacher to facilitate instruction and teach specific skills that help students become more independent learners.

MULTI-AGE ABILITY GROUPINGS

A purposeful grouping of students consisting of several ages (grades). Itallows children of various abilities and age levels to work and learn in an environment that is intended to optimize their learning potential. One aspect of multiage is an environment which is consistent, predictable, accepting, and stable. Most researchers believe that children learn and perform better in situations when the environment is safe and accepting.

ESE INCORPORATED

As we believe in the WHOLE child approach, we understand the brain/body connection and the importance of movement. We begin each day making connections with the left and right brain.  By combining specific movement and activites, we connect the brain, 5 senses, nervous system, and motor skills to work in harmony.  Improving their focus, listening, receptive information and expression of thought.

MOVEMENT & MEDITATION

MONTHLY FIELD TRIPS

We incorporate field trips throughout the year according to our project based learning theme.  We believe this gives students a better understanding of real world problems and solutions.

FLEXIBILITY

Students are given the opportunity to learn at their own pace. Each topic can be taught ABOVE, ON, or BELOW their given grade level. This allows each student to truly master the material that is being taught.

HOMEWORK IS OPTIONAL

Because we are such a small group environment, Homework is not necessary. The students receive their education in the classroom. We understand there are many different family dynamics and not all may want the same thing, therefore; we leave it optional.  We are more than happy to provide families with extra work as needed.

TESTIMONIALS

What They’re Saying

Among all the uncertainty and fear in the world during 2020, there was a dependable and peaceful light for our family, Motivating Minds. We had the blessing of using Motivating Minds homework helping services in the past to great success. Our daughters loved going there. After trying different tutors and systems, we realized they were at ease and learned the best at Motivating Minds. They were engaged in learning in a joyful and safe environment. When we realized virtual schooling was not working for our family, we did not think twice about enrolling them for homeschooling at Motivating Minds. We are glad we did and now we are seriously considering keeping them there even when things go to a new normal. Our daughters love going to school and are confident they can learn anything. The individualized and loving attention they receive is priceless. Thank you Motivating Minds for making learning fun and for reinforcing strong values to our daughters!
